Generator Package Units
Custom engineered power packages from 1 to 5 MW. Generator, enclosure, fuel, switchgear and controls delivered as one integrated unit.
A package unit is a generator built into one engineered assembly: skid, sub-base fuel tank, enclosure, switchgear and controls, designed and checked together before it ships. Buffalo Power Solutions builds custom packages from 1 to 5 MW for data centers, industrial plants and contractors, and ships them anywhere in the United States.
One Assembly Instead of Five Trades
On a conventional job, the generator, the fuel tank, the enclosure, the switchgear and the controls arrive from different suppliers and meet for the first time on site. Every interface between them is a chance for a missed dimension, a wiring mismatch or a schedule slip.
A package moves that work into a controlled build. The pieces are engineered to fit, wired and checked together, and the assembly arrives ready to be set on its foundation. This page covers the package itself. Setting it on site and connecting it to your building is installation work, covered on our installation page.
What a Package Can Include
Generator Set
Diesel or natural gas, sized to the load and the duty, standby or prime.
Skid or Trailer
A structural base frame designed for lifting and shipping, or a trailer for sites that need to move the unit.
Sub-Base Fuel Tank
Fuel storage built into the base, sized to the runtime you need.
Enclosure
Weather protection and sound attenuation to suit the site and its neighbours.
Switchgear and Distribution
Breakers and distribution built into the package so the output is ready to connect.
Decide These Early
From Specification to Delivery
Requirements: we take the load, duty, fuel, runtime, sound and site limits from you or your engineer.
Layout: you receive general arrangement drawings and a one-line diagram for approval before anything is built.
Build: the package is assembled and wired to the approved drawings.
Checks: the generator, controls and switchgear are tested together to a scope agreed with you during design.
Shipment: the package ships to site with its drawings and test records, ready for your installer or for our installation crews inside our branch territory.

Package Units: Common Questions
What is the difference between a package unit and a generator installation?
A package unit is the equipment: the generator, base, tank, enclosure, switchgear and controls built into one assembly. Installation is the site work that follows, including the foundation, setting the package, fuel and cable connections, permits and startup. We supply packages nationwide, and inside our branch territory our crews can also do the installation.
What size package units do you build?
Our packages run from 1 to 5 MW. The final configuration depends on the load, the fuel and runtime you need, the sound limit at the site and whether the package must parallel with other units. Send us those and we will propose a layout for your approval before anything is built.
Is a package tested before it ships?
Testing the generator, controls and switchgear together before shipment catches wiring and sequencing problems while they are still cheap to fix. We agree the test scope with you during design, including whether you or your engineer want to witness it, and the results ship with the package.
Can a package unit be moved to another site later?
A skid-mounted package is designed to be lifted and shipped as one piece, so relocating it is a planned move rather than a teardown. If you expect to move the unit often, for bridge power or temporary duty, a trailer-mounted package removes the crane from most moves.
Do you ship package units outside Texas?
Yes. Package units are nationwide project work. We ship to your site with drawings and test records, and your contractor sets and connects the package. Inside our branch territory in Texas and Louisiana our own crews can install and service it, and we offer regional coverage in Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico.
Need a Package Built to Your Specification?
Share the load, fuel, runtime and site limits, and we will send a proposed layout.
