Lifecycle Care for Your Generator Fleet
One program and one service history for every unit at every site, from the first assessment to replacement planning.
Generator Services is our program for organizations that run several generators across one or more sites. Buffalo Power Solutions baselines every unit, keeps one service history, adds remote monitoring and controller upgrades, and plans repairs and replacements ahead of time. It covers Texas and Louisiana from our Texas branches, plus our regional coverage area.
Managing a Fleet, Not Just a Visit Schedule
A maintenance plan keeps one generator on schedule. Once you run units at several sites, built by different manufacturers and bought in different decades, the harder questions are about the fleet: which units are closest to failure, which controllers can no longer be supported, and what you should budget for next year.
Generator Services answers those questions. We assess every unit, record its condition in one history, watch it between visits and turn what we find into a ranked list of repairs, upgrades and replacements. Routine visits still run on a maintenance plan for each unit; this program ties them together.
What the Program Covers
Fleet Assessment
A condition baseline for every unit: age, hours, controller, known defects and readiness.
One Service History
Every visit, test and repair across all sites, kept in one record you can hand to an auditor.
Remote Monitoring
Alerts for alarms, failed starts, charger faults and units left out of automatic mode.
ECM and Controller Upgrades
Keep a sound engine in service when its controls are no longer supported.
Lifecycle Planning
A ranked plan for repairs, overhauls and replacements, so capital requests arrive before failures do.
How a Fleet Program Starts
Inventory: we list every unit by site, size, fuel, age, hours and controller, using your records and our own site visits.
Condition rating: each unit is inspected and rated, and urgent defects are reported to you right away.
Findings: you receive a ranked list of repairs, upgrades and replacements with the reasoning behind each one.
Schedule: maintenance, testing and fuel work for the whole fleet go on one calendar, with a maintenance plan for each unit.
Review: we revisit the plan with you as units age, run hours and new findings come in.
A Good Fit If You

Generator Services: Common Questions
How is Generator Services different from a maintenance plan?
A maintenance plan schedules routine service on a generator: inspections, oil and filters, batteries and testing at a set frequency. Generator Services sits above that. It covers a whole fleet, keeps one history for every unit, adds monitoring and controller upgrades, and turns condition data into a repair and replacement plan. Each unit in the program still has its own maintenance plan.
Do you service generators from different manufacturers?
Yes. Our technicians service all major generator brands, which is the normal state of a fleet built up over many years or through acquisitions. Mixed fleets are where one service history pays off most, because units with different controllers and parts lists end up on the same schedule and in the same reports.
What does remote monitoring catch?
Monitoring reports run status, alarms, battery and charger condition, and whether a unit has been left out of automatic mode, so you hear about a problem before an outage finds it. It does not replace hands-on service or exercise under load, but it documents those runs and shortens the time between a fault and a technician on site.
Can you upgrade the controls on older generators?
Often, yes. When a controller or engine control module is no longer supported, parts and diagnostics get harder to find every year. We assess whether an upgrade can keep a sound engine and alternator in service, and when replacement is the better use of the money we say so. Paralleling and building system connections are covered on our system integration page.
Do sites in the program get emergency response?
Sites in Texas and Louisiana, which our Texas branches cover, get 24/7 emergency response from the nearest branch. For sites in Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico, which we cover regionally, we agree with you how urgent calls will be handled at each location before the program starts, so nobody finds out during an outage.
