Generator Service in Dallas / Fort Worth
Commercial and industrial generator work across the Metroplex, dispatched from our Bryan / College Station headquarters, about three and a half hours north.
Backup power in Dallas
Dallas / Fort Worth is the largest concentration of power-critical floor space in Texas outside Houston, and very little of it is optional load. The Metroplex is one of the biggest data center markets in the country, with Digital Realty, Aligned, QTS and STACK all operating here and the Infomart carrier hotel on Stemmons Freeway acting as the region’s interconnection point. Around it sits a manufacturing base that does not stop: Lockheed Martin builds the F-35 at Air Force Plant 4 in Fort Worth, Bell Textron runs next door, and GM’s Arlington Assembly plant works around the clock.
The logistics layer is just as dependent. AllianceTexas carries FedEx’s Southwest regional sort hub and Amazon Air’s regional hub, where a few hours of downtime is a national backlog rather than a local inconvenience. Parkland, UT Southwestern and the rest of the hospital corridor carry life-safety loads that NFPA 110 governs. Even DFW International Airport has spent heavily on electrical reliability and has looked at a microgrid, explicitly because of grid conditions in Texas.
What that adds up to, for anyone responsible for a standby plant here, is a lot of equipment whose failure is expensive and whose testing paperwork gets audited. That is the work we do.
What runs on standby power here
Data centers and carrier hotels
One of the largest data center markets in the country, plus the Infomart carrier hotel. Paralleled plant, switchgear and fuel systems where a failed transfer is measured in seconds.
Aerospace and vehicle manufacturing
Lockheed Martin’s F-35 line at Air Force Plant 4, Bell Textron in Fort Worth, and GM Arlington Assembly running continuous shifts.
Hospitals and health systems
Parkland Memorial and the UT Southwestern corridor, where essential electrical systems are inspected against NFPA 110 and the documentation matters as much as the run.
Air cargo and distribution
The FedEx Southwest regional sort hub and Amazon Air’s hub at AllianceTexas, where sort windows do not move for an outage.
Water and wastewater
Dallas Water Utilities’ Central Wastewater Treatment Plant handles on the order of 165 million gallons a day, a load that cannot pause.
Universities
UT Arlington and the University of North Texas each enroll more than 40,000 students, with research and residential loads behind them.
What the grid and the weather do to North Texas
The Metroplex gets hit from three directions. February 2021 was the obvious one: during Winter Storm Uri, ERCOT ordered about 20,000 MW of rolling blackouts, the largest manual load shed in US history, and roughly 4.5 million Texas customers lost power. But North Texas also takes convective damage that has nothing to do with the statewide grid. In October 2019 an EF3 tornado cut a 15-mile track through North Dallas and Richardson and knocked out more than 150,000 Oncor customers, with 95,000 still dark the next morning. In May 2024 a derecho formed near DFW and took out roughly 400,000 Oncor customers in the metro. On top of that, the summer of 2023 set ten all-time ERCOT peak demand records and produced eleven conservation appeals. A generator that has not been load tested since the last event is not a plan.
How we cover Dallas
Work in Dallas is dispatched from Bryan / College Station, about 3 hr 30 min away, and quoted with that drive in it. Scheduled work, installations, load bank testing and preventive maintenance are planned around it, so a visit is a fixed date rather than a guess. What we will not do is promise you a same-day emergency truck the way we can in the metros where we keep a branch: distance is distance, and you should hear that before you sign, not during an outage.
Maintenance customers get priority dispatch, which is the practical reason most facilities this far from a branch put their units on a contract. Our technicians are factory trained across major makes, and the same NFPA 110 documentation, load bank reports and fuel testing come with the work here as anywhere else in Texas.
Dallas questions
You are three and a half hours away. Why would a Dallas facility use you?
For planned work, the drive is irrelevant: installations, load bank testing, fuel polishing and scheduled maintenance are booked dates, and we quote the travel into the price so there are no surprises. For emergencies, we are honest that a branch closer to you will beat us on a cold start. Where we fit best up here is contract maintenance: the value is a technician who already knows your plant and paperwork that is right before an inspector asks for it.
What does Dallas require to permit a standby generator?
The City of Dallas runs backup generators through building inspection with an electrical plan review, and expects a one-line diagram, a load analysis and the generator and transfer switch specifications. Fuel storage triggers its own permit: a flammable liquid permit is required above 10 gallons of gasoline or 60 gallons of diesel, and natural gas needs a separate plumbing permit. Requirements differ across the Metroplex, so confirm with the authority having jurisdiction for your address.
Do you cover Fort Worth and the suburbs, or only Dallas?
The whole Metroplex, including Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Irving, Frisco and the Alliance corridor. We cover all of Texas; Dallas / Fort Worth is simply where most of the demand in North Texas sits.
